Where Elevated Living Begins (Hint: It’s Closer Than You Think)

I’m often reminded how different work is today for Matt and I than for my parents. When I was growing up at home with my folks, I can count on one hand the amount of times they had to stay late to finish up a project at work. No interruptions from work while at home. No cell phones with access to email. 

Things were just different

Not better or worse, but certainly different. I’m guessing – maybe – that the amount of separation they had from work was probably healthy. Freeing. While that is not the case for my hubby and I today, nor many of you reading this, we both find so much fulfillment in our work. 

I’m grateful for the opportunity to set my own hours as we continue to grow our design business. However, the hours of a business owner tend to look very different from a typical 9-5 job, the freedom and satisfaction in knowing the success of the business rests on your shoulders is a massive motivator … and completely terrifying all at once. 

I share all of this as simply a reflection this week. And, most importantly, to acknowledge that I know we are ALL balancing more to dos than we can all count. 

We’ve got a suggestion

So, as you tackle your long list of tasks this week, let me offer you one suggestion. That home project that’s been on your list for far too many months – the one that you’ve been meaning to contact your mom’s neighbor’s cousin about. We get it – we’ve all been there.
