Home Ideas That Will Transform Your Space
Your home is not just a place you, well, call home. It is almost an organic living creature that changes as you change and transforms as you move through the seasons of your life. If you have noticed that it is time for something different in your dwelling, continue reading for ideas that will bring your home to a different level in no time at all.
Upgrade the Windows
Windows are portals to the outside world. They frame what you see beyond the walls of your home while also offering architectural details and a seamless way to frame what you see. Old and worn-out windows are drafty and increase your utility bills. They can also become dull and lack visual interest. Change your windows by searching for licensed window installation contractors near me. Once you have that settled, look for windows with bold black frames, clean white edges, or unique details such as window grid patterns in traditional or custom designs. Windows also have a way of elevating the look of your home’s exterior, so it is a win all around when you opt for an upgrade.
Rearrange the Furniture
As long as you like your home as it currently is, you can still alter its aesthetic appeal with ease. All you need to do is rearrange the furniture throughout your house. Perhaps you have had a couch backed up to a beautiful picture window, or maybe you just had the window installed. If so, you might be missing out on a lovely view of the great outdoors. Reposition your couch so it faces the window, and place a pair of comfortable chairs angled inward toward the couch where it once stood. You will still have seating near the window but a great new view to enjoy. The same goes for the rest of your house - move a bookshelf or buffet table to gain a new perspective on what you already own.
Paint or Paper an Accent Wall
Many homeowners appreciate vibrant pops of color or maximalist designs they see in beautifully curated spaces online and in their respective travels while visiting new places and cultures. Incorporating some of these ideas into the home is quite a different thing, however. It is a commitment to do something big, bold, and different, but you can take inspiration from the places you find beauty in. Moving outside of one’s comfort zone is not always easy, but it is exciting.
If these statements resonate with you, consider making a small inroad that will have a big impact on your home’s interior design by selecting one or two walls in different rooms to paint a see-me color you have always loved and appreciated. Another way to express your inner design dreams is to use wallpaper in unexpected places, such as the insides of cabinets, behind a counter, or on one wall in the bathroom. These small changes will transform their spaces and make you smile every time you walk into the room.
Declutter and Reorganize
Stuff. Belongings. Clutter. Things. These are all words that evoke a sense of dread for those living in a disorganized home. If you fall into this particular category, do not fret. All you need to do is take a deep breath and begin. Where to begin can be a stressful question, however. Simply start by setting a timer on your smartphone for 10 minutes and then walk into a room. Arm yourself with a tote bag, laundry basket, or box with handles and fill it with items that do not belong in the room. If you still have minutes left on the timer, begin to organize the room.
When the timer goes off, quickly walk the basket throughout your home and put the things you have collected back in their respective places. Start a donation bin in your garage while you are at it. Do this every day until your home is organized, and then make it a point to put everything away once you are finished using it.

Elevate the Window Treatments
Window treatments serve to block out the sun and any prying eyes in the neighborhood and as decor items in your home. Take a step back and assess your current window coverings. Do you like what you see? If so, changes can still be made. Look up. Any space between where your current window coverings and curtain rods are installed and the ceiling is a canvas ready to be filled. Simply elevate your rod and curtains by moving them toward the top of the wall for a grand effect. You may need to add extra material on the bottom if you appreciate the material and pattern you currently have. If not, this is the perfect time to look for new window coverings. Opt for elegant yet minimalistic details or large and ornate patterns to complete your look.
Swap the Hardware
As time goes by, the hardware in your home can become dull, dingy, and scratched, not to mention outdated. The good thing is that this is one of the easiest ways to make a positive and noticeable change in and around the house. If you currently have chrome hardware, consider a nice satin nickel for an update. Another fun and stylish option is to go in a different direction with rose gold or a bold gold look. Pay attention to everything from the hinges on your doors to the knobs and pulls on the drawers and cabinets. Consider a swap from a doorknob to a door level for a higher-end feel.
Get ready to transform the place you live in and make it a place you love once again. With relatively easy upgrades and simple design change ideas you can implement starting today, you will wonder why you waited so long. Get going, get organized, and get ready to be happy with what you have.
