No time? No money? No problem! Your self-care kick-in-the-pants awaits!

No time? No money? No problem! Your self-care kick-in-the-pants awaits!

Self-care is a term that we hear all the time. But one that is commonly misunderstood.

When reviewing a recent poll, 1/3 of people asked, said that self-care was something only people with an abundance of money could partake in. Another finding revealed that nearly half of adults believe they do not have time for self-care.

Do you have any of these same beliefs?

Ironically, science totally busts these myths. When we are completely deprived and our own cups are not filled, we are not able to take care of others efficiently, and certainly cannot care for ourselves. But, if we take even minutes a day to work on our self-care, it can make a world of difference.

Better yet? You can even improve your productivity! “People that look after themselves [and practice self-care] do have better cognitive ability. They do have better focus and they do have better concentration,” Dr. Russell Thackeray, a licensed clinical psychologist who consults on the topic of productivity. “They tend to actually produce more.”

So, what can you do today to make self-care a priority?

1. Schedule it!
Yes, I know. It seems silly to schedule something in your calendar that you really need/want to do. But, if you’re busy—which I’m guessing you likely are—you NEED to schedule it.

2. Do it guilt-free.
This is such a hard one for women—especially moms. We have so many things competing for our time that we often feel guilty to take even 5-10 minutes to ourselves if it doesn’t contribute to helping someone else or our household. But here’s the thing—if we’re not feeling fulfilled, or we’re feeling completely deprived—we’re likely not contributing to our loved ones. We need to get in the right mental space, and practice self-care regularly (guilt-free) to best care for others, and ourselves.

3. Start small.
Can you spend hours on self-care every day? Sure. Do you deserve to spend that much time improving yourself? Absolutely! But, I have a good feeling that you don’t have a bunch of extra hours in your day. So, it’s best to start small. Maybe it’s just 5 minutes every day. Choose something that fills you up, schedule it, and make it a priority.

Self-care looks different for each person. Maybe your self-care is reading a great book, taking a bubble bath, going on a peaceful walk, or treating yourself to a day at the spa. Whatever it is that fills you up, make the commitment to yourself to practice self-care each and every day.

You, your health, and your happiness all depend on it!

I’d love to hear from you! How are you implementing these self-care practices on the daily? My practice involves waking up at 5 AM, reading a great book, prayer, visualization, and doing a little yoga to kick-start my day.

From Survival Mode Mama to Thriving Abundantly

From Survival Mode Mama to Thriving Abundantly

We’ve all been there, right? We woke up late, the kids are screaming, and we have 1 million things on our to-do list that we should have already completed. UGH! In my eyes, this is just about every mama’s daily routine. Amiright?

But I’ve got to be honest. This is no way to live … at least not live well. This is the epitome of the survival mode mama. I have been there too many times to count. But what if there was a different way …

What if we could wake up peacefully, on our own terms? What if we could have time to ease into the day while we sip a hot cup of coffee? What if we could get much of our to-do list accomplished before the kids even woke up? What if?

These single gal luxuries may seem like a thing of the past, but they can be yours again soon, mama! But only if you stop. Like right now—stop what you’re doing and press the easy button.

Follow these 3 easy steps to go from survival mess mode mama (I see you!) straight to the thriving abundantly mama. You’ve got this—just keep reading!

1. Press the easy button.

STOP running to every store on earth that is open right now to find toilet paper and all the other household necessities we need. Seriously--stop it!

There’s a healthy alternative that is way better for you and every member of your household. Best of all, it is delivered straight to your doorstep—no scouring the aisles of Target any longer. Who’s got time for that?

2. Stop Googling “healthy” products for you and your family. Just stop!
Greenwashing (marketing ploys to make it seem as though a product is actually healthy and safe but is totally toxic instead) is everywhere, especially in the big box stores. Go with one brand that you know, trust, and the research has been done for you. “Ain’t nobody got time for that!”

3. Quit making excuses. It’s time to invest in your health!
You are responsible for your own health. If you’re a mom, you’re likely responsible for the health and wellness of your entire household, too. Let’s be real—if you don’t have your health, what do you have?

Make the decision to ditch the chemicals and unhealthy crap under your sink. Choose natural, effective, and chemical-free alternatives instead. They are out there, and I can help you press the easy button to get your hands on them. Your health (and your family’s health) depend on it!

So, what are you waiting for? Make the switch to healthy, natural, and effective products today. This is the secret to our family’s health, wellness, and happiness. You completely deserve this abundant lifestyle, too, mama.

Let’s connect! Let me help you go from survival mode mama to thriving abundantly today. You can do this, mama—and I’m here to help every step of the way!

Survival Mode Mama: Everyday Style

Survival Mode Mama: Everyday Style

Anyone else struggling with our new daily routine? (All the stressed-out mamas homeschooling, working, and “attempting” to keep the house clean—please stand up!)

I’m not going to lie—I am on a struggle bus to nowhere with my kiddos these days. From the constant interaction, long and hectic days, and the endless amount of “no’s” I spew out from morning ‘til night—I am just WORN DOWN!

Don’t get me wrong—I love these little stinkers to the moon and back—but I am completely frazzled, and exhausted. NOT a good combo.

After taking some time to reflect on the positive aspects of our day, and to remember what we did BEFORE we went into lockdown mode, I came up with 4 super simple tips. Take it from me, these sweet little nuggets of gold WORK, and I know they can for you, too.

So relax, grab some coffee (or wine—I’m not judging!), and let’s dive in!

1. Give yourself GRACE

This is SO very important as a stay-at-home mama, but even more crucial now that we’re all cooped up together all day long, and still have mountains of to-dos (and laundry) piling up. Start your day out with grace. If you’re really struggling with this one, set sporadic reminders on your phone to alert you to take some time to pause, reflect, and be filled with gratitude for your health, wellness, and your family.

2. Allow extra time …

For literally everything. If you were once used to spending 10 minutes to tackle a task, plan for 20. Technology takes extra time, wrangling the kids, grabbing the 5,491 snack of the day, and constant interruptions take time. Plan for it—your day will go much more smoothly.

*Pro tip: If you’re in need of some extra support in managing your time throughout the day, try out time blocking. I especially love the Pomodoro method.

3. Stay healthy + well

Get some fresh air. Go outside for a walk. Stay hydrated. Take the kids outside to run around, kick the soccer ball, or fly a kite. Take frequent breaks to get some fresh air—you deserve it!

4. Implement MOMfulness

See what I did there? I’m talking about mindfulness. Maybe you feel best mentally after you have taken some time to pray, meditate, do yoga, or visualize your dream life. Whatever it is that refuels you and inspires a healthy mindset, take time each day to make it happen.

*Pro tip: Wake up just 30 minutes early each day to implement this new routine. This simple tip has completely revolutionized my morning and my entire life. Give it a try—it can do wonders for kickstarting your day!

I’d love to hear from you! How are you surviving during these unpredictable times?

5 Simple Steps to Living Healthier TODAY

5 Simple Steps to Living Healthier TODAY

We’re all in need of some healthy living reminders these days. Right? But who has time to do a ton of research to be healthier? Not this busy mama!

No worries! We’ve taken the guesswork out for you and pressed the easy button. I’m happy to share that implementing these 5 simple steps have helped my family and I achieve healthier habits in just a few mindful minutes each day. Ready to dive in? Let's do it!

1. Drink up
Getting the hydration needed for your body is absolutely crucial to fuel your body and your mind properly. Experts are now saying that 64 ounces of water per day (or the typical 8 cups of water a day) is just not cutting it. Now you should aim for getting half your body weight in ounces each and every day.

2. Take a breather
Literally. Take some time to relax, reflect, and breathe. Many smart watches and phones have a breathe feature or app built right in. Plan to take just one breathing break per day and work up from there.

3. Fuel your body
Proper nutrition is key. Some studies recently found that as much as 80% of losing weight can be achieved by nutrition alone, while only 20% is made up of exercise. The saying stands that “you can’t out-exercise poor diet.”

4. Fuel your mind
This may look different from person to person. Maybe you feel best mentally after you have taken some time to pray, meditate, do yoga, or reflect in silence. Whatever it is that refuels you and a healthy mindset, set away some time each day to make it happen.

5. Satisfy your self-care needs
This is no guilty pleasure. Self-care is a necessity, no matter how you slice it. And it certainly is not something that one should feel guilty about taking. Read a great book, binge your favorite show on Hulu, jam out, get your nails done, shop online, or indulge in a special treat after a long day. Even if it’s just 5 minutes of me time, commit to a little self-care today—you deserve it.

I’d love to hear from you! How are you implementing these 5 simple steps to living healthier today?
